There claim to be #1 in FRAUD PROTECTION is not only FALSE ADVERTISEMENT but FRAUD in and of itself. If you give out your number to a merchant, it is not considered fraud. BASICALLY, IT IS ONLY IDENTITY THEFT PROTECTION. THIS IS TRUE WITH ALL CREDIT CARDS BUT THEY DON'T PROMOTE THEMSELVES AS DISCOVER DOES. WHEN ANY CREDIT CARD COMPANY ASKS YOU TO PAY FOR IDENTITY THEFT PROTECTION, THEY ARE JUST TRYING TO MAKE MORE MONEY OFF OF YOU OR THEY HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THEIR SECURITY SYSTEM.
2. IT IS THEN SENT TO THEIR DISPUTE DEPARTMENT. DISCOVER WILL APPLY A TEMPORARY CREDIT IN 3-5 BUSINESS DAYS BUT THE CATCH IS IF THE FRAUDULANT MERCHANT SUPPLIES THEM WITH FALSE DOCUMENTATION, THEY WILL REVERSE THE CHARGES AND YOU WILL BE LIABLE FOR THAT MONEY. UNLIKE MASTER CARD WHO TAKES A MONTH TO INVESTIGATE AND SENDS YOU A FORM TO PROVIDE EVIDENCE AND THEN GIVES YOU A CHANCE TO REBUT THE SELLERS EVIDENCE, DISCOVER SAYS BASICALLY F -YOU.
3. THEIR CLAIM TO BE NUMBER 1 IN CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ALSO A LIE. ONE OF THEIR AGENTS MISINFORMS ME THAT THE CREDIT THAT WAS APPLIED IS PERMANENT AND WHEN YOU ASK FOR LEGAL DOCUMENTATION AND REPEATEDLY SAY ARE YOU SURE THIS DISPUTE WITH RAZZPHOTO.COM WHICH HAS MANY ALIASES AND A 12 PAGE LIST OF COMPLAINTS AGAINST THEM, HE SAYS IT WILL BE SENT IN THE MAIL.
4. THE NEXT DAY MY CREDIT CARD BALANCE WENT UP FROM $1600.00 TO 5,600.OO. THEY REVERSED THE CREDIT AFTER TELLING ME THAT IT WAS PERMANENT. I THREW OUT THE EVIDENCE TO SUE THEM IN SMALL CLAIMS COURT. YES, I RELIED ON THEIR INFORMATION TO MY OWN LEGAL DETRIMENT.
5. I CALLED THEIR SECURITY DEPARTMENT AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE TELLS ME IT IS AGAINST DISCOVER'S LEGAL POLICIES TO PROTECT YOU FROM FRAUDULENT MERCHANTS. THIS IS ALL ON TAPE. THEN WHEN I TELL HER THAT THEIR POLICIES DO NOT COMPLY WITH WHAT IS CIVILY AND CRIMINALLY CONSIDERED FRAUD, SHE TELLS ME THAT THIS IS NOT A COURT OF LAW AND THEY DON'T TAKE SIDES BETWEEN THEIR CUSTOMERS. WHEN I TOLD HER THEN YOU BASICALLY NOT ONLY DON'T PROVIDE FRAUD PROTECTION, YOU ALSO PROTECT FRAUDULENT MERCHANTS, SHE HUNG UP ON ME.
6. I HAVE FILED COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS MERCHANT WITH IC3.GOV, THE ATTORNEY GENERAL AND THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. DISCOVER HAS NO INTEREST IN SEEING THIS INFORMATION OR DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. IT'S YOUR BASIC F- YOU POLICY.
LASTLY, IF YOU ARE A DISCOVER CARD HOLDER OR PLAN ON APPLYING FOR ON. READ THE FINE PRINT. IT SAYS F-YOU
I MANAGED TO GET THE DIRECT NUMBER TO THEIR SECURITY/LEGAL DEPARTMENT AND I TOLD THEM THAT IT GOES AGAINST MY LEGAL ETHICS TO FURTHER THE EXPLOITATION OF INNOCENT COMSUMERS AND IF YOU WANT THE MONEY SUE ME. THIS IS ALL ON TAPE. THEIR RECORDER GOES ON AS SOON AS THE CONVERSATION STARTS. I wil admit I use that number to scew with them and I like the beeping sound as soon as they know it's me.
